As it turns out the tax men out in Finland are upping a do about nothing or is it? It turns out that the finnish tax man is hunting down finnish poker players and trying to make them pay tax on there winnings. Letters now have been issued to gamblers posted as winners on poker sites, which are either online or live, one of the tax men said to the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.
There have been hundreds of posts on gambling message boards and it turns out that seventy or so players have been issued with a declare your winnings order or go to jail. And it must cover all the past five years.
All current wins outside the remit of the European Economic Area shall be studied carefully. The order has raised lots of questions from the winners like how does the tax free status be affected when the event holder is from the European Economic Area, or whether or not the licence was issued or obtained from the EEA.
There is no previous precedent for this so we are in the dark when it come to the chances of the outcome.
But if this goes the full way will tax rates be affected when it comes to losing?
I must say this is a great article i enjoyed reading it keep the good work ![]()
Thanks mike.
