I had a small side bet tonight on the final of the apprentice in which i chose originally one of the losers who went out in week one, but tonight i bet on the runner up so not only did i lose money but i lost face to my friends and fiance.

I’m going to recoup this with a poker match in the next few days and take home some easy money from people who are not very good or new to the world of Texas Hold em.

I will try and post the updates and the results as we play so watch this spot.

Has anyone out there got any good gambling tips for the next few days or should i simply plump for an each way bet on the next round at the wsop on one of the favorites?

In a mass of professional poker players it turns out a amateur was hoping to take home the goods but donate them once he did. The new bracelet winner was Eric Brooks, a 48-year-old and it turns out that he will donate $400,000 of his winnings to a charitable foundation. This was the first tournament that he has cashed in on and beat the following on the final table,Minh Ly, Erik SeidelDavid Oppenheim and Alexander Kostritsyn, to win Event #14 ($10,000 Seven-card Stud World Championship).

The total prize was $415,856, and obviously the converted gold bracelet but the $400k will go to the Education Foundation, a non-profit charity of which he is a board member.

“It’s an organization that I really believe in,” commented Brooks post victory. “Essentially what we do is we take the science of decision making, which is something that’s university level, college course work, and (teach the basic principles to grades) K-12 around the country.”

“We had a lot of success with it so far, and being able to add another $400,000 (my winnings) to it and what they’re doing in going to be pretty big.”

When he joined the final table he was sat in 6th place with the amount of chips he had and no one expected him to take the title of world champion but he romped home then to every-ones surprise donated the money to charity, a true champ in my eyes.

This weekend hit the celebs hard when it came to the ladies £500 Texas hold em main event at the WSOP and it showed in the current readings posted on wsop site.

Jennifer Tilly, star of Bound and Liar Liar was one of the first big names to take a dive and she wasn’t to happy when it happened.
It came as quite a shock because Tilly was the first celeb to claim a WSOP bracelet in 2005, she came unstuck to a straight when she gambled on a flush which never arrived, even worse she crashed out after only half an hours play.

Mindy McCready the famous country and western singer went next then Cheryl Hines the star of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Even though all 3 women had planned to at least get past the first day of the 3 day gruler all were out after 5 hours.

Poker pro Linda Johnson delivered judgement to the stars and showed how to do it by smashing it home to  Camryn Manheim with the perfect execution of the deadly pocket aces.

Some murmurings in the background revealed that Shannon Elizabeth of American Pie fame had not entered the tournament because she was still warming a seat in the $10,000 seven-card-stud.

When Tilly claimed victory in the WSOP Ladies no-limit Texas holdem tournament in 2005 she cashed in on $158,625 and a prestigious gold bracelet, she currently has cashed a massive $450,000 plus, so you can expect to see her around the rest of the tournaments.
