17th place for last lady at wsop

Posted by Alan | Gambling,poker,Vegas information,Vegas News | Thursday 17 July 2008 2:00 am

The last woman to have a seat at the wsop was Tiffany Michelle and she was classed as the “glamour” on the last day, but unfortunately the people had sponsored her and the mass of male on lookers who were following her every move, Monday did not make her a happy woman as she dropped out of the 2008 wsop literally 24 hour short of a seat on the last table. Tiffany has a large mass of chips when play began but she never got into her stride when the cards didn’t show up and when she got desperate she foolishly tried to bluff her way out of trouble. Which made her fall flat on her face.

You have to ask yourself is 17th place really a bad position to lose at, as this years highest placed woman and cashing in on a cheque of over $330,000 with star reports and your name splashed all over every country in the world. I think she would have been the main spotlight if she had got to the final 9 ad there were pres reports that TV channels had placed a large interest in her progress, but alas she failed. The woman has simply a lot of glamour and skills to deceive the best poker players.

I was really disappointed to see Tiffany drop out and its a shame she didn’t make the final table as the sport needs a new injection of life, there are many female players in the male dominated sport but Tiffany has set the bar high for all future female poker playing wannabees. I really hope to see Tiffany again and i have very prospects for her future.

Casino on the moon?

Posted by Alan | Fun gambles,Gambling,poker,Vegas information,Vegas News | Sunday 13 July 2008 8:09 am

Is there any truth behind a possible casino on the moon?

One of the major players in the online gambling industry has placed a bet on the chance that there might be a casino on the moon in time for 2040. The mad idea is being bet on on for a possible bonus for charity but is the bet actually that mad?

There has always been speculation into whether or not human can build a station on the moon but no one before has ever thought of simply building a casino up there, I’m guessing that one of the main problems is cost but when it comes to the gambling industry is money really a problem? The speed that we are ever evolving is getting faster and but it seems these rumours are just a little bit of a joke in the poker rooms so far.

Think about it! Would you pay tax? Who would govern the law etc. Sounds fun to me but really just a dream.

Recession what recession?

Now the 1st section of the the WSOP 2008 comes to a happy end, the final 666 contestants for the main event are finally going to be announced, it is said that this will be the largest winning prize for any poker match anywhere ever recorded. The overall amount of prize money for the WSOP is a gigantic $180,676,249 and more than $65,000,000 will go to the main players in the prestigious main event with a whopping $9 million being given to the final winner.

As you are probably aware the gambling industry is under such scrutiny and lots of pressure from many areas of the world, but it it a massive blow to the people out there who want to ban gambling etc that the wsop is able to smash through all the criticism and break all previous records prove that poker is still a major player for everyone. Everyone out there who plays poker and love the loves sport specifically waits for the WSOP and it is the main event in any gambling sporting calender. But has it reached its peak or will next set new also?

The foreseeable future is a mystery but my guess with massive TV production companies get more and more involved with the high stake matches it can only go from strength to strength. Plus with the TV companies involved it simply give the hosts the opportunities to break records with the prizes.

WSOP Garner strides on.

Posted by Alan | Gambling,poker,Vegas information,Vegas News | Tuesday 8 July 2008 6:53 am

The main match and final of the two thousand and eight WSOP has started with Mark Garner heading up the pack with 205,100 chips.

There were over 1,300 pokers players who entered the tournament when it kicked off but now it has been halved which to be honest happened on Friday.

Garner entered the match last year ad came a disappointing 25th but he has set the pace this year when he had a very late run late in the night.

Brandon Adams is the closest to him with 170,000.

There were over 50 celebrities who entered but all of them crashed out nice and early.

But, Ray Romano the non funny sitcom jester has come through to the second day of play with a average 60,000 chips.

He Commented: “I played tight as all hell and I got a couple of hands and I made a little bit of money, but I could have made more money. I fell asleep reading Doyle Brunson’s book last night.” A non funny spat as usual.

The biggest and best main event was won twice by Brunson 76 & 77, a tremendous effort which was copied by Johnny Chan & Johnny Moss but the only guy who has gone to the magic number 3 is, Stu Ungar.

Website guide for U.S. gamblers

The online world of slots, poker and all forms of gambling was moved when the 13th of October, 06 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was brought in to try and govern online gambling in America. There were real concerns that America would have to stop all online gambling. There were even some poker sites around the world that stopped letting Americans join there site. But now you can go to www.usa-online-gambling.com and find out how online gambling in America is not illegal.

The website was set up to let US gamblers about their rights and how they can play games and gamble online. The website shows you how the whole rules and regs work and how it is still possible to spend cash legally online, it lists poker sites, sports books & U.S. micro gaming casinos on the net that will legally allow Americans.

“We at USA Online Gambling like to let people know that they can still have their fun. Meanwhile, we give them dozens of links to gambling sites that offer great US online casino bonuses, often over 100% matching.” Tracy Carter said.

WSOP the one everyone wants

Posted by Alan | Gambling,poker,Vegas information,Vegas News | Friday 4 July 2008 3:00 am

Even though there are many poker events around the world that people want to win, it seems that the main event at the greatest tournament in the world of gambling is the wsop and its the one that everybody wants to win.

Winning one of the cover-ted bracelets can turn you from a nobody in to one of the most recognized names in the world and it is said that the biggest prize in poker is the best to introduce yourself to the poker scene. Say Poker player magazine.

Dave Woods, is the editor of the magazine, and he commented that the HORSE match with the massive $50k buy in, is for the best poker players out there an not for the people who cant afford to loose.

He also commented that the HORSE match is the real test of the overall skills of any poker player and the no limit version is the “pinnacle” of the game.

“The majority of people would still say that the main event is the one that they want to win; it’s the big one and the one that’s guaranteed to make you a household name,” he commented.

Following the success of the wsop matches this year the final event will be held in November instead of July due to the man wanting to publicise it properly and get a large TV viewing.

Internet Gambling

Posted by Alan | Gambling,poker,Vegas information,Vegas News | Thursday 3 July 2008 6:48 am

There was proposed legislation this week that would have seen the demise of the (UIGEA) unlawful Internet gaming enforcement act. It was challenged by the House Financial Services Committee.

If the case had been won it would have prevented the federal reserve system and treasury department from doing anything about the the Internet ban on gambling.

The new ideas were put forward in April 2008 by Barney Frank & Ron Paul.

John Pappas, the executive director from the Poker Players Alliance, said that the main issues were the fact that poker has real moral issues when it comes to the problems associated with gabling and the social troubles it may cause.

He said: “As our opponents continued to debate this issue in the Committee, they never really spoke about the merits of the UIGEA or enforcing it … [It was] a moral discussion.”

The UIGEA stock market dropped by over 61% in a 24 hour period since the results were publicly announced.

woo woo david is here!

Posted by Alan | Gambling,poker,Vegas information,Vegas News | Wednesday 25 June 2008 6:00 am

David woo is a pro poker player, and he will always have in his mind yesterday as the first massive moment in his career, it was the day he scooped his 1st WSOP solid gold bracelet. Woo with this win scooped a massive $631,550 in cash at the 39th match of the 2008 WSOP. Even though it was not an easy match.

Strangely the $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Holdem match got the 2nd largest amount of players at the WSOP 2008 so far. There were 2,722 players which amassed a prize of $3,712,800 which in turn let the runners of the show distribute the prize money to 270 poker players, but it was David woo who made it count.

There was a pro called Thom Werthmann who began the final day of event 39 in the chip lead on the 3 day match with 1,600,021 in chips compared to Woo’s 1,090,010, even though Thom Werthmann has won a bracelet in the past at the wsop he failed to impress on his early work and came in a disappointing 5th. You have to be really lucky to win at the 3 day events or have the skill of the best poker players in the world to complete everything and win, but then again the wsop would not give away at bracelet!!

Vegas targeted by card sharks.

Posted by Alan | Gambling,poker,Vegas information,Vegas News | Monday 23 June 2008 7:38 am

While the US economy has its ongoing struggle, there are rumours of more casino and card players doing scams on the Las Vegas Strip. Even though all casinos on the strip are all equipped with CCTV in each area of their casinos the scammers are making it more and more tricky to catch in the act. The casinos will not confirm how much or how many cases have taken place, there is speculation that it is getting larger and larger on a daily basis. The size of fraud prevention and incidents by the authorities has massively grown over the past 90 days as lots of people are willing to to throw down the gauntlet.

This has arrived at a bad time for the casino industry who in turn have seen a substantial rise in bad debts since the beginning of the year with lots more customers being dragged to court and prosecuted. While monies are being stretched & many expansion delayed or stopped altogether, there are hundreds of motions which are leaning towards online gambling rather than casino gambling.

The proof is there that the casino attendances are dropping all over the US but the prospect for the industry is good as the financial crisis is affecting everyone but casinos should survive.
